The point of living and of being an optimist, is to be foolish enough to believe the best is yet to come.

What Will I Wear?
Let’s get practical…I have often been told that I do not talk or write about things that most people are interested in. So let’s talk about clothes, shoes and shopping in general.
First Question: Are clothes an essential or a luxury? This is not an easy question when you consider all the women who are wearing thong underwear rather than panties. This is another choice of paying more for less.
Next Question: Where do your clothes come from? To answer this question, look at the labels.
My grandson, Klayton, informed me that all his clothes came from a local store that I will not name but you can guess. So we looked at the labels…shirt from Bangladesh, shorts from China, boxers from Mexico and shoes from Vietnam Nam. So much for shopping your local retailer!
Next Question: What are your clothes and shoes made of? Artificial materials that are better than natural? Plastic shoes and polyester clothes are not natural or real. Natural materials are cotton, bamboo, wool, etc.
Final Question: Why do you buy and wear uncomfortable imported clothing made from artificial materials imported and send your money out of the county?
The answer is very simple…the choice has been taken away from us. Clothes made from locally produced natural products are no longer available in our local communities. The jobs associated with growing, producing and marketing clothing that is durable and will last are no longer valued or available.
Clothing and shoes have become an artificial disposable luxury rather than a natural essential. When a rock star (Sean Combs) or an athlete (Michael Jordan) make millions endorsing a clothing or shoe line which is made out of the country, the message of advertising is loud and clear to our children.
In this day of disasters…just one more question…what would we wear if there was an embargo that stopped imports into this country? Or better yet, since we are now dependent on cheap imported artificial clothing, are we ready to pay any price to keep it coming?
