When I ask the following question, people look at me like I am stupid, but no one has really given an answer that I understand, therefore I keep asking.

What is The Economy?

I have noticed that it must be a powerful entity unto itself because when I took the class in school, it was just called economics without The and was a nerdy little requirement in the business social science area that dealt with the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services.

Everywhere I go from Church to Wal-Mart, I hear about The Economy and how bad it is.  In fact, it is one of those bad’s that require several vowels when saying…it is baaad!

Turn on the TV or radio or computer and every five minutes or less you will hear or see something about The Economy. No one ever tells what it is but it is baaad!

So I pose the question again in a different way, “Who or What is The Economy?”

No one seems to be able to give me any direct answers about who or what The Economy is but everyone wants to express their fear of this monster that is directly responsible for destroying their lives .

We only seem to know what we have been told about this monster that has invaded our lives and made us its servants.  We are now controlled and governed by the fear of the dreaded tyrant, The Economy.

Is “The Economy” a disease or epidemic that is contagious?

There seems to be a connection between all the discussion about the need for health care while vaccinating and giving prescription drugs to everyone for survival.

Our government has gotten deeply marred in the mud spending immense amounts of time and money on health issues since The Economy came to the forefront.

Is “The Economy” depressed?

Is that the reason that billions of dollars are given to medical research, large pharmaceutical corporations, insurance companies and their special interest in the government?

Are we individually sharing the cost for medical antidepressants for The Economy to put it in a better mood so that it will be good rather than baaad?

Is “The Economy” an addict?

The government talks about recovery.  There are all types of statistics measuring the recovery rate of The Economy which would indicate that it is sick or diseased and we are each paying for its medical care which is costing more and more while we see no signs of healing.

Are we paying for a user or addict to remain in a rehab while being supported in their habit by these large pharmaceutical corporations, insurance companies and their special interest in the government?

Is “The Economy” an international terrorist or a drug dealer?

We all pay for security.  We pay for the government to keep us safe and secure from everyone who is out to get us.  If we are told by the President that another country is a threat to our security, we go to war and spend trillions of dollars to destroy the threat.

Is The Economy an ally of Al-Qaeda (Al-Qaida) or Osama bin Laden?  Are we trying to locate and eradicate an elusive terrorist?

We have created a huge branch of Government to keep us safe and secure from anyone that might be a terrorist.  We have given up  personal rights of freedom to this agency that we pay to keep us safe.

Is The Economy really being held captive in another part of the world and we are paying for it’s release?  What is the connection between the war on terror and The Economy?

We have given an arsenal of weapons to our local law enforcement agencies to protect us from the terrorist or the drug dealer next door.  Is The Economy a drug dealer?

We pay this local government to insure that all drugs and chemicals are manufactured and sold by large pharmaceutical corporations or the food industry and approved by the FDA for mass distribution.

Is “The Economy” an extortionist?

I hear about all the money we pay to stimulate The Economy.  We give billions to bail out large corporations in the attempt to keep our jobs and stay in our homes.

Are we trying to appease a tyrant to allow us to survive?  If we were facing a hungry tiger would we try to stimulate it by offering it up one hand or one foot?

If The Economy is so powerful and so baaad, why would we try to stimulate it and feed it to grow?  Why would we be consumers who invest in all the junk and propaganda that the supporters of stimulating or feeding The Economy throw our way?

Is “The Economy” an angry God or Demon?

I have heard about The Economy in almost every Church, of every denomination, that I have attended in the last year , therefore I am posing this question.  Obviously people have faith in and believe that The Economy exists and is baaad.

I have heard The Economy used as an excuse for all types of personal behavior or actions, “The Economy made me do it.”   I have even heard that The Economy is a fulfillment of Biblical Prophesy.

Therefore, I am asking this question of every person with equal respect for your answer.  I am asking for input from preschoolers to graduate students, all religions, all political groups, and all individuals.

“Who or What is The Economy?”
